Our Story
How Hattie Rose Designs, Inc., was born.  Jill Sandager, Lead Designer
My oldest daughter was born with an amazing amount of energy! She was constantly on the move…much like her mother. When she got to be about 2 months old she also showed us that she was able to produce an unbelievable amount of drool. The older she got, the more came out of her little mouth. Not too many months later, she showed us how good she was at spitting up. I couldn’t keep up! I followed her around with a burp cloth, but the pretty little outfits I loved were constantly a mess or soaked through to the skin. I couldn’t stand the thought of covering her cute clothes up with boring and unimaginative bibs, but I decided this was necessary for her skin care and my sanity. This decision marked the beginning of my frustration. Most bibs were so thin that within an hour she soaked through and her shirt was wet again. With vinyl, everything just ran down soaking her pants. The cheap Velcro-like product that was used quickly wore out and the bibs would not even stay on her. I got very weary of running out of clean bibs, doing laundry, and spending money on cheap products that didn’t last a month. I took matters into my own hands. In a momentary lapse of judgment (or a brilliant moment of inspiration) I rushed to the fabric store, located the most absorbent 100% cotton terry cloth I could find, and bought 6 yards of it! I also found some beautiful fabrics, ribbon and some high quality Touch Tape hook and loop closure that lasted through many washings. I decided that if my daughter had to be covered up with bibs, I would make them at least as cute as her outfits.  My friends and family saw my daughter in the bibs I designed. I received so many positive comments that I was inspired to create other designs. I learned which fabrics functioned well and held up to many washings. I made a few for some of my friends and family members and they loved them—both the design and the quality. A year and a few investors later, Hattie Rose Designs was born! I hope that you and your baby enjoy the comfort and style of Hattie Rose original designs as much as we have enjoyed making them!
